The Acts Model:
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. (Acts 2.1)
We can find inspiration in the three parts to the birth of the Church: ten days of constant prayer leading to the Pentecost, one day of prayer witnessed by the whole city, and days of blessing that followed. For these reasons, the Global Day of Prayer Has three parts:
TEN DAYS OF CONSTANT PRAYER: 1-10 MAY, 2008
On Ascension Day, Christians throughout the world will find ways to pray night and day throughout the ten days leading to Pentecost, following the pattern of the disciples before the first Pentecost.
THE GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER: 11 MAY 2008
On Pentecost Sunday, Christians in almost every nation will assemble to pray, in churches, in public venues, in stadiums and in public squares. Television, radio and internet will help connect and align our prayers even more.
90 DAYS OF BLESSING: 12 MAY - 11 AUGUST, 2008
As in the first Pentecost, transformed Christians transform their communities as they offer themselves to God as instruments through which their prayers can be answered. The Global Day of Prayer anticipates the forming or furthering of local alliances among pastors, churches, missions and business leader, to bring practical, transformational blessing to their communities
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place –Acts 2.1
As dawn broke on the first Pentecost, Christians were gathered ‘all together in one place’. On this coming Pentecost, many millions of believers will again be all together –but in many places –praying in one accord for the biblical hope of Christ’s glor and the transformation of all nations.VISION
Christ Glory and the Fulfillment of His purpose
STATEMENT
To call Christians from all nations to unite in repentance and prayer, and to collaborate as God's instruments for Blessing and healing of the nations
